We’re in Santa Rosa, retired for 4 years now. Our area is being hit hard by repeated wildfires. 2017 we thought we were going to lose our house, but winds shifted and we ended up okay. Our friends lost their house, and lived in our guest house for a year while they did renovation on a new house.

The fires this year weren’t as close to us but still scary.

We love it here, but the thought of fires every year is daunting. Additionally, dealing with smoke from surrounding fires and then PGE power outages makes things even more challenging.

So right now, we’re tossing around the idea of making a big change and possibly moving to Portugal. Ahhh, decisions!

I am sorry to hear about the fires in your area.

Making huge decisions like moving, especially to a foreign country can be daunting.
