For anyone interested in Belize feel free to reach out. We are originally from the U.S. but have lived in Belize full-time since 2006, have literally travelled the entire country and have multiple businesses here.

Belize overturned their colonial-era (you can thank Britain) sodomy laws in 2016 and that precedent is currently being used as an example by human rights organizations throughout the Caribbean who are attempting to do the same. Unlike most countries in the region, Belizeans are accustomed to a diverse society as the population is non-homogeneous and comprised of Maya, Mestizo, Creole, Mennonites, East Indian, Turkish, Chinese and a decent number of N. American and European expats.

A few resources to get you started include https://unibam.org/ (the organization that lead the fight to overturn sodomy laws), https://ourcirclebze.weebly.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/BelizeanLGBT/

Happy to answer any questions about life and retirement in Belize.

    David
